“Fleur du Cap has the freedom to select regional vineyards where individual varieties best express their character and finesse. Our special release Laszlo is only made in select years, from a meticulous selection of the finest wines from our cellar and truly captures the essence of our vision, ‘freedom of expression’,” says Pieter Badenhorst, Fleur du Cap’s winemaker.
Referred to as the Oscars of the South African wine industry, Veritas has been awarding South African wines and winemakers since 1990, earning its reputation as one of the country’s most authoritative and credible competitions for market-ready wines. Awarded wines carry a symbol of excellence and a promise of quality.
The Fleur du Cap approach is unconstrained. Using only meticulously selected grapes from the finest vineyards from across the Western Cape, Fleur du Cap produces a range of wines that offer diversity of choice and diversity of taste.
Fleur du Cap Laszlo 2015, our Flagship Red Blend, is a rich, full-bodied blend of 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, 13% Malbec and 7% Cabernet Franc. The individual varietals were sourced from selected vineyard blocks in the Stellenbosch area. The wine shows intense aromas of cherry and red plums with hints of pencil shavings that develop into tobacco notes. The lush but firm tannins with ripe fruit flavours follow through onto the palate. Although the wine is very rich and appealing, it has wonderful length and aging potential.
Fleur du Cap wines, available at retail outlets nationwide, are found on many restaurant wine lists and can also be delivered to your door when purchased online through the Vinotèque Online Shop.
